Christmas Project - Advent Calendar

I tried working on one or two advent cards each night while I was still in school... and I finished the rest up as the vacation started. (I love being back in my scrap room!) We've had to rearrange a few of the Christmas events here and there, depending on our schedules. The girls - especially Ali - have kept us in check making sure we keep up with the cards each day/night.

And finally, all of the cards are kept in this cute little box covered in Christmas paper. I'm thinking I need a few more of these boxes... for what? I'm sure I can think of something!

Lay-Out

We've been gone so much this summer... here and there for little roadtrips and vacations. I made it a point to scrap & stamp as much as I could today. (Before we leave again for another get-away!) Of course, I'm nowhere near being caught up with my daughter's album, but what fun would that be?

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 123

At the moment I'm a bit obsessed with the Cosmo Cricket line "Early Bird" & I used it again for the Sweet Sunday Sketch.

I loved how simple this card design was. It came together very quickly!

Materials:
Stamps: n/a
Paper: Bo Bunny, Bazzill, Basic Grey
Ink: n/a
Accessories: Cosmo Cricket cardstock elements, Sharpie pen, brads

I loved this card design so much I whipped out another one. I got my inspiration from this card. Again, I only used the cardstock stickers & elements, so it was super easy.

Gettin' Crafty!

Woo hoo! I was feeling some artistic motivation the other day! (After seeing this inspiring post.) I've been thinking about some new art projects to try out in second grade... and I had the girls test out this one with me. We started out by painting colored paper (instead of tissue paper... I was just using what we had on hand.)

We added different designs and patterns using materials from around the house... see the potato masher in the photo above?

Of course, Miss Meri ended up with quite a bit of paint on her...

After letting the paint dry over night, we started cutting out shapes and pieces. We glued those to a sheet of white paper in random designs.

This is Alison's finished "painted paper masterpiece".

Here is Merilyn's finished product...

Here is what I came up with as I tried to recreate this idea. I will definitely try this project in the classroom... and I will use a combination of tissue paper and cardstock for the different dimensions, textures, etc. Check out this website; it's full of wonderful crafty ideas!

Mojo Monday Week 197

I used all of the scraps and left-overs from this layout to create the Mojo Monday card. There wasn't any stamping involved... but I love the ease of chipboard elements. :)

Materials:
Stamps: n/a
Paper: Bazzill, Cosmo Cricket
Ink: n/a
Accessories: Cosmo Cricket "Early Bird" cardstock & paper elements, ribbon

Finally...

a layout! Why is it that now, when I have the time & freedom to scrap, I am lacking any motivation?! Argh! This layout took me at least a week to finish. It stayed on my desk and I would come back to it... slowly.

All supplies are from Cosmo Cricket's "Early Bird" line. I got my sketch/layout ideas from this one and this one.

Back in Action...

...maybe. :-) School is almost done... I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! We have 5 (yes, 5!!) babies due at school and we're having a giant baby shower this week. I decided to break out the paper and stamps (and blow the dust off of everything!) and make some baby cards.

This is how a crafty desk should look... good and messy! It's been awhile since it's looked like this. I did the baby girl first... modeling my card after this one. I attached a cute little pair of booty socks on the envelope.

The baby boy cards looked a lot like this card; and little boy booty socks.

The other cards were "gender neutral"... :-) It felt so good to get the stamps out! I'm hoping that in 8 days I'll be back at my scrapbooking table on a regular basis.
